IDEALWORKS IW.HUB RENDERS

ABOUT

idealworks a deep-tech company specializing in industrial automation, was launched by the BMW Group in November 2020 as a wholly-owned subsidiary. Based in Munich, Germany, idealworks offers a comprehensive robotics ecosystem of services and solutions tailored to intralogistics. A centerpiece of their offerings is the iw.hub, an autonomous mobile robot (AMR). The company’s journey began within BMW AG, where a dedicated team was tasked with developing an AMR for BMW to use in their factories. Following its success and growing demand for the solution from external parties, idealworks was spun out to bring the technology to the wider market.

In preparation for the launch of the company, the Academy worked alongside some of the current BMW Group design interns from QUT, and under the direction of Dylan Sheppard, Digital Design Lead at idealworks, to 3D model, texture and produce a package of highly realistic renderings depicting the new idealworks AMR, iw.hub. As a team, we remodeled the whole iw.hub, including every nut and bolt, before creating materials and textures to accurately depict the iw.hub in a set of high quality renderings.
