Academy initiated design competitions for QUT students to flex their creativity and skills
The Academy design competitions are offered to QUT design students as a fun way to apply their skills and challenge their creativity. While every competition has its own theme and criteria, they all require a resolved idea and high quality visuals for the submission.

The competitions are run at select times each year and advertised via our Instagram account. Information about the theme, criteria, submission requirements and competition dates for the competition are published with each competition. As long as you’re a QUT design student, you can register and submit your design!
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
CURRENT DESIGN COMPETITION
BMW M8 ENGINE COVER RE-DESIGN
Design a new engine cover for the BMW M8 vehicle, to the theme of ‘Digital Design’. This can be retro, sci-fi, futuristic or anything that falls within the theme - so long as it fits the dimensions of the M8 vehicle!
The Academy team will judge the entries and select a winner. The winning design will be printed at 1:1 scale to be displayed on the vehicle for a short time, in addition to a small scale version for the Beta Lab display plinths.
