The final stretch of my internship

Finishing off my internship has been a mixture of emotions. I’ve felt a strong sense of accomplishment and pride in the projects I completed and the skills I developed. There’s also a bit of sadness knowing that I have to come home as I really loved living in Germany. The six months have flown by, and I can’t believe it’s all over and I have to come back home. Additionally, there's excitement for the future and how I can apply what I’ve learned to new opportunities.

Integrating with the team was a positive experience. Everyone was welcoming and supportive from the start, making it easier to adapt to the new environment. The internship allowed me to form friendships with people from around the world, including fellow interns from Lebanon, with whom I even travelled to other countries. While I expected to learn a lot of German during this internship, I ended up learning quite a bit of Lebanese as well.

At the BMW Tech Office, I’ve been fortunate to engage in a variety of exciting projects that challenged me daily. During my internship, I gained a diverse set of skills and knowledge. I enhanced my proficiency in Adobe After Effects and Blender, creating animations and motion graphics for various projects. I developed VR scenes for the Meta quest and Apple Vision Pro, integrating 360 cameras and interactive elements to create immersive experiences. I improved my video editing skills using Premiere Pro and Omniverse, producing high-quality videos for press releases and presentations. I learned to use Substance Painter to create realistic textures, illustrating material degradation over time for SORDI assets. I designed user interfaces and marketing materials using Figma and Adobe Illustrator, focusing on usability and visual appeal.

I also had the opportunity to travel to many different countries, which I tried to maximize as much as possible. I visited many cities within these countries: Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, England, Italy, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, and the Netherlands. Of course, I visited cities like Berlin and Cologne while living in Munich and learned more about German culture. Although I couldn’t spend too long in each country, taking weekend trips to neighbouring countries was still a great way to learn more about different cultures and see more of the world.

My advice to future interns is to be proactive and open to learning. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and seek feedback, as this is a valuable part of the growth process. Embrace new challenges and take the initiative to explore areas beyond your initial responsibilities. Lastly, make the most of your time by balancing work with leisure activities, allowing you to stay refreshed and inspired.
