BMW M8 Competition Coupe unveiling!

The big news is finally here!
We are thrilled to announce that the BMW Group + QUT Design Academy is now home to the BMW M8 competition coupe! Last week we officially unveiled the vehicle at our new home in QUT Kelvin Grove Campus. The launch included speeches from Prof Margaret Sheil, AO Vice-Chancellor and President of QUT; Mr Axel Zeidler, German Consul-General; Jimmy Nassif, CTO idealworks and Assoc Prof Rafael Gomez, Founder and Head of the BMW Group + QUT Design Academy.
The BMW M8 is the most luxurious and sophisticated supercar that BMW produce and will allow us to achieve ambitious goals across research, teaching, and education. This will give QUT Design students - across industrial design, interaction design, visual communication, fashion as well as games design, IT, mechanical and electrical engineering - a wealth of new learning opportunities.
The endowment is a huge milestone for the BMW Group and QUT partnership, and signals the strength of the collaboration. This type of cooperation genuinely represents QUT’s values of real-world industry partnerships, transdisciplinary collaborations and transformative outcomes. It is an example of what QUT can offer industry, government and other external partners.
A HUGE thanks to our partners at BMW Group and idealworks , with a special thanks to Jimmy Nassif and Dylan Sheppard for their continuous and unwavering support. Thank you also to QUT for their ongoing support to this program including Prof Mark Harvey (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Business Development QUT), Prof Scott Sheppard (Deputy Vice-Chancellor International and External Relations QUT), Prof Lori Lockyer (Executive Dean CIESJ Faculty QUT) and Prof Lisa Scharoun (Head of School of Design QUT) among a host of other teams and individuals at QUT who have made this happen. Recognition goes out to the amazing team at Stranger Films for the world-class video production and all the incredible photographers involved - we were blown away by the final results. Last but not least thank you the to BMW Group + QUT Design Academy team, Assoc Prof Rafael Gomez, Jordan Domjahn, James Dwyer, Tim Lim, Epi Pereira and Mile Lepre who posses unparalleled expertise and professionalism - no challenge is too much for this incredible team!
