Accelerating my Skills

Interning at BMW Group + QUT Design Academy was my most memorable and special time during my interaction design degree. The opportunity to work on a live UX/UI project from BMW Group has accelerated my skills, knowledge and maturity as a designer. The UX/UI project encouraged design thinking skills to solve a problem which often required out of the box thinking to find solutions this was at times challenging and pushed me out of my comfort zone. This, as well as engaging with a real client, gave me the ability to mature as a designer in not just my hard skills but also my soft skills through interacting with the client and responding to feedback. Working as a designer in a business environment, rather than the education environment, was a great experience as it helped me understand further how to react to feedback and how to work within product restraints set by a client.

The team and BMW Group + QUT Design Academy has been extremely helpful providing mentoring and guidance. I found this insightful as their assistance not only helped me improve as a UX/UI designer but furthered my understanding of relationship between designer and client. Engaging with a globally recognised company such as BMW Group, with a passion for design and drive to further my design thinking skills, was in invaluable experience to compliment my degree. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work and learn along side the passionate team of designers at BMW Group and will take this experience and lessons learned forward into my career.

Take care,
